Digital cameras are getting smaller every day. They are becoming more advanced with advanced features and many options. The picture quality is getting better as the megapixels rise. The prices are getting better. These mini cameras are handy to have and easy to carry with you.

There are digital cameras small enough to fit on your key chain. These are great for people who hate to miss an opportunity. These can be used to capture a moment that usually would be missed. Like a child’s first steps. You never have a camera during these moments.

Portraits are a lot of fun to take, especially of your friends and family. However, you are probably looking for ways to get more creative and make your photographs look more professional. What follows are tips to take stunning portraits, steering away from the boring ’snap-shot.’

1. Do not place your subject in the middle of the frame. Rarely do you want someone in the center because it does not make for an interesting photograph. Experiment putting your subject to one side of the frame- by doing that you include some background which adds context.

These days you don’t need a special camera to create awesome panoramic photographs. With Photoshop CS using Photomerge makes the process quick and easy. Photomerge in Photoshop CS was created especially for panoramic photography. The process itself is really quite easy but the results of the merge will be depend on the layout and image source quality. The Photomerge feature permits the selection of images intended for automatic panoramic Photomerge and it also allows for manual arrangements. Since your final photo depends on the quality of the source images it is necessary to make note of some tips when shooting scenic photographs. These tips include: Use manual exposure when shooting pictures. Merging the pictures later on will be difficult if different exposures per shot are used. Try to keep the camera as steady as possible when shooting. If you can, use a tripod to steady the camera. Keep a long distance between the camera and the subject, especially when working with landscapes. Chances of parallax are greater when objects are too close to the camera.

Be Camera Smart

by Dan Feildman

Experiment with Exposure: Digital cameras typically work best in sunlight, just like film cameras. Once you step inside or into dim light, things get a bit more difficult just like with film cameras. Experiment to know how to handle these situations.

Try all sorts of variations. Shoot your subject from different angles with different lighting if you can. Try turning off your camera’s flash in some shots. Try ‘fill flash’ if your camera will allow it. Sometimes fill flash can make a perfectly exposed picture better. Sometimes you can add drama by turning off your flash and leaving your subject somewhat underexposed.

Of course, everyone knows that not all of our photos will be perfect… But some will jump right out at you and remind you of certain times and ‘warm feeling’ experiences. Grab these images! You’re about to put them into your own portfolio - and showcase them proudly to the world (or at least, to your ‘inner circle’ of family and friends!)
